With a coaching career that has spanned over 35 years, Frank Barron, a long time head coach at Daniel Hand HS in Madison for 20 years, now is in his eleventh year as the Assistant Lacrosse Coach at Branford HS. The holder of over 200 lacrosse victories during his coaching tenure, Coach Barron has continued player skill development at Branford by helping the Hornets to an SCC league title in 2002, a Division II State Championship in 2003, and post season state tournament appearances in 2004-2007 when he assisted the team to the Class M 2007 State Final runner-up spot.
Named Connecticut HS Coach of the Year, Assistant Coach of the Year, and CT Chapter US Lacrosse Man of the Year during various times of his career, Coach Barron has not only coached numerous All League, All State, and All America players—but also was the Head Coach for the US Lacrosse Senior Showcase All Star game in 1999 when his East team defeated the North squad.
Frank has been a popular lacrosse clinician who has spoken during his years as coach at the US Lacrosse National Convention, the Connecticut Chapter of US Lacrosse high school and youth clinics, as well, as coaching at summer camps throughout the northeast. Selected by his fellow coaches since 1996, Frank has continued to serve on the Executive Committee of the CHSLCA, has served on the CIAC Boy’s Lacrosse Committee, and continues to serve as the Connecticut HS Coaches representative to US Lacrosse. He has chaired the Connecticut High School Lacrosse Coaches Association All State/All America Committee since 1995.
Frank holds an M.A. in Communications from Fairfield University, and is an English teacher at Daniel Hand High School where he coached football for 25 years. A resident of Branford, Frank is married (Becky), and has one son (Greg) who attends Bucknell.
