Cardinals Players and Families, As you know, the deadline for returning players to secure guaranteed spots on one of our Fall tournament teams is Sept 1. They should make sure to register on our ct cardinals lacrosse website and either pay the entire fee on line or mail me a deposit of 150$ to complete the process. We have had a great response from both returning and new players and I anticipate some positions on Fall teams closing out soon. I will be out of town until Thursday of this week but will be reachable via email and cell (860-303-9328). On Friday, I will commence putting together our Fall teams based on the registrations, tryout registrations, deposits and payments I have in hand. If you have a special situation or need help, please contact me directly as soon as possible, we are interested in working with you if you really want to play Cardinals lacrosse. Please make sure you are registerred on the website so that we have all your personal and contact information. Returning players should definitely plan to attend our first two sessions on Sunday 9/12 an Sunday 9/19 at Wesleyan- they will be positional clinics with some excellent position specific instruction. New players will attend those sessions to be evaluated for open spots on teams after returning players are placed. Team Rosters will be announced within a few days after the second session. For our new boys players wishing to try out: please make sure you have submitted a tryout registration form (downloadable from the ct cardinals lacrosse website) along with the 50$ tryout fee. You should also register on line to provide us with your info. New girls players just need to contact me with their spring and summer coach's contact info and register on the web site. Our schedule is nearly finalized and practice sessions for the boys teams will be Sundays between 9 and 1 PM with the younger players going first and the older guys going second. The first girls clinic session will be 1-5 PM on Sunday Sept 26. We are looking at Tournament options on the last four weekends leading up to Nov 21, with the boys playing in three and the girls in one. Wesleyan University will be the site of all our practice sessions and we will be using the Turf, Wadsworth, and track fields throughout the Fall. We hope to be able to the publish detailed Fall schedule by next weekend. Finally, I have received a number of requests about players wishing to play on the same Fall team for travel or other reasons.I ask that you email those requests once again this week as I start to put things together. While it is our desire to keep summer team members together as much as possible we are also committed to moving toward grade based teams to be consistent with the direction most club programs are heading in, so we probably won't be able to satisfy every single request but will do the best we can. The Cardinals are excited to announce the first Girls Fall program commencing this September. Under the leadership of girls' program director Wesleylan Womens' Coach Holly Wheeler, the Cardinals will sponsor teams for girls from grades 7 through 10. Teams will meet for four Sunday afternoon clinics throughout the Fall and compete in one additional Fall tournament event in November. Specific dates will be announced next week as soon as Wesleyan confirms the schedules for their Fall Varsity teams. Each four hour clinic will consist of an individual skills session, a team skills session, and an enrichment session on a variety of topics including fitness training for lacrosse, officiating certification, and the college search process. In addition to our Cardinals summer coaches, current Wesleyan Womens' team members will be at each session to work with our girls on an individual basis. The Cardinals Girls Program is committed to our identity as a developmental program designed to enable talented and committed players of varying levels of experience to improve as players and enjoy both the intensity of competition and the fraternity of the team setting.
The program cost of $395 is all inclusive, covering the four afternoon Clinic sessions, tournament costs, and Cardinals game gear and sweat shirt. Returning players from our summer program will be placed on Fall teams by registering and paying a 100$ deposit. Interested new players should submit a tryout registration along with the contact information of their coach from last spring. New players will be considered based on coaches' recommendations. Cardinals Players and Families, We are excited to announce that Holly Wheeler, Head Women's Lacrosse coach at Wesleyan University, has joined the Cardinals organization as director of the girls program. Coach Wheeler has consulted with us in the past and now comes aboard formally to help us move our new girls program to the next level after a successful inaugural summer season. She will be in charge of the instructional curriculum and practice organization as well as developing a staff best suited to help our players progress. Coach Wheeler will be announcing a Fall program for our girls within the next few weeks. The Girls Fall program will follow a somewhat different format than the Boys fall program, one more tailored to the women's club game. However, it will be guided by the same Cardinals philosophy which emphasizes getting better as a player, developing positive relationships, experiencing the greater world of our great game of lacrosse and, equally important, having fun.  The Ct. Cardinals Lacrosse Club will offer its fourth season of Fall Lacrosse this September through November. We play on Sundays to allow our players to play their Fall sport but also “keep their stick in their hands†in the off season. As usual, our emphasis is both on teaching and competition in a team format; we will start with individual position clinics, then team skills clinics, then team practices and finish with three regional tournaments in November.
 The Schedule: Practices will be held on Sunday’s at the Turf and Wadsworth fields at Wesleyan University in Middletown. ( Note: there may be several Sunday PM sessions, depending on the Wesleyan University athletic activities.) Sundays 9/12 and 9/19 Positional Clinics/ Evaluation Sessions Sundays 9/26 and 10/3 Team Skills Clinics Sunday 10/10 off- Columbus Weekend Sundays 10/17, 10/24 and 10/31 Team Practices Sundays 11/7, 11/14 and 11/21 Regional One Day Tournaments (Note: Some Tournaments may schedule younger teams play on Sat. Tournament dates and schedules are not finalized at this time.)
The Teams: Fall teams will be organized by grade and every attempt will be made to keep summer teammates together. We will structure our Fall program to accommodate our returning Cardinals players. Returning players paying a $150 deposit by Sept. 1 will be guaranteed a spot on their Fall team and receive a $50 discount toward the cost of the Fall program. New players wishing to try out for Cardinals Fall Lacrosse pay a $50 tryout fee covering the 9/12 and 9/19 sessions. Players will be notified of team assignment following the 9/19 session.
The Coaches: Fall teams will be staffed by our Summer Staff and staff from last Fall.
The Cost: Returning Cardinals Players Registering Before Sept 1st. Will be charged $500. You can either play this full amount online when you register or send a $150 non refundable deposit to Rick McCarthy by Sept 1st. The remaining balance of $350 will be due in full by Sept. 26th.
Returning Cardinal Players Registering After Sept 1st . Will be charged $550. This payment amount is due in full in the form of credit card or check by Sept. 26th.
