THANK YOU FOR A GREAT FIRST WEEKEND
by posted 02/01/2010

Cardinals players and Cardinals Families; What a great turnout we had forour first tryout opportunity last Saturday. Unfortunately for our high school kids, the number of players so far exceeded the preregistration that we were overwhelmed a bit space wise. We are looking forward to our  second tryout which will be outdoors (weather permitting) on the Wesleyan turf on Sunday, March 7. We will divide into at least 3 sessions to insure that we can provide a good opportunity for everyone to show their game.

All players, returning and new, are urged to attend this session even if  they attended the first session; there is no additional charge and it provides a great opportunity for the players to get in some action prior to getting started with their spring teams. We ask again that all interested returning players contact Coach McCarthy with their intent as to returning for this summer and that they submit a tryout registration form and deposit as soon as possible.  It is important that all returning and new players let us know if they will be attending the March session

If you have a special situation  or a conflict with the March 7th date  please contact Coach McCarthy directly so that we can make special arrangements. Because we need to register for and pay for our summer events earlier than ever this year and because we really need to plan for a great March 7 session, hearing from you early is essential. We will commence putting our summer teams together  immediately following March 7th so pass the word along to your friends who are interested in becoming  Cardinals players on our summer teams that attending the March session is crucial.  We have gotten off to a great start and are really excited about the upcoming summer season. See  you March 7. John , Will, Rick and the Cardinals staff.

Cardinals Excel on National Stage.
by posted 01/15/2010

The Cardinals capped their Fall season by  qualifying two teams for the NDP Dick's Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions in Tampa Jan1-3. The Cardinals had a major presence at this high level event with a total traveling party of 120 people including 48 players plus coaches and family members. The Cardinals Green team competed in the Elite (seniors) Division, finbishing 15th in a strong field of 26 teams from throughout Canada and the US. They faced an extremely tough schedule, playing 2 teams from the final four and another from the final  eight and competed hard all weekend. In the 14-6 loss to the Warriors team, they faced the number one national recruit in this years recruiting class, Lyle Thompson from the Onandaga nation. The Cardinals Red team competed in the "rising stars" underclassmen division and finished seventh in a field of 16, winning four games, including an incredible 10-9 overtime victory over the Native American "Kiwaneika Krunch" team in the final game. Overall, our Cardinals players played tough against some of the top players and top club teams from throughout North America. In spite of some unusual and un-Florida-like weather, our entire group of players, parents, and Coaches had a superb time playing some great lacrosse and enjoying the fraternaty and fellowship that has become such a big part of the Cardinals program. It was great to see our kids from Central and Southeastern Connecticut do so well on a national stage.

New For This Year
by posted 01/08/2010

We are looking to sponsor a team of Cardinals graduating seniors who would play in a couple of college oriented events during the summer.  Initial feedback has been positive as we test the interest for this type of team.

We are also hoping to sponsor several Cardinals “Capital Select” teams out of West Hartford.
